Carol races up the stairs to go inside after this monumental revelation, but Daryl stops her. He doesn’t want to get Lydia involved, but Carol wants to show him that she’s alive so that he can see his leader was lying. He says she has been through enough, but Carol thinks Lydia should make up his own mind.

Siddiq checks on Cheryl again, who knows Siddiq is lying about her condition even though he insists that she will get through it. She tells him to sit down and rest, because he looks worse than she does. People need him, and that means he needs rest. He closes his eyes.

At the border, Gamma looks down at the drawing and he offers it to her, taking it out so she can look at it. It’s a picture of Gracie and Aaron riding bikes. They start talking about riding bikes, and they both have stories from their childhood. He picks up that she has a sibling, but she won’t speak of the sibling. Aaron talks about his brother and says it helps to talk about it. He knows she’s digging for intel and he knows he should be doing the same, so he thinks they should just talk about nothing worth reporting. Gamma gets up and walks off, saying the Whisperer oath.

Dante and Siddiq rush into the cell because the Whisperer is burning up. They arrive in time for him to start vomiting blood, and soon he’s dead. Carol is about to bring Lydia in, but Daryl ushers her out. Siddiq sees a jar in Dante’s hands and says he killed him. There was hemlock in the jar and that’s what killed him. Dante says he didn’t know because Siddiq was the one who packed the bag.

In the woods, Gamma studies Gracie’s drawing. She puts it away as a walker approaches, and she manages to get her mask back on when the walker attacks. Gamma kills it, and then she sees Alpha standing there. She notes it’s one less Guardian for their horde, and then she asks about Aaron. Gamma says he has a daughter, and Alpha asks if Gamma asked about her sister’s child. She knows he will use that against her. She must be punished, so Gamma rolls up her sleeve so that Alpha can whip her. As she whips her, she says they’re always being tested and they have to be strong. Alpha believes in Gamma. She knows that Aaron is tempting her with his lies and warns her not to follow them.

Daryl and Gabriel look at the dead Keeper and Gabriel thinks people will panic. Daryl says Alpha won’t find out, and after stabbing the Keeper in the head he says he’ll clean up the mess, but Gabriel says he will help because it isn’t his mess to clean up.

Siddiq goes in to check on Cheryl but finds the bed empty. She’s passed away. Outside, Dante is getting ready to dig a hole for her. He says he was going to find Siddiq, but Siddiq walks away.

Alone in his house, Siddiq, he has flashbacks of telling Cheryl it would all be okay while also hearing the words “hemlock” going through his head. He’s having an anxiety attack and so he runs and jumps into the lake. Someone says “open your eyes,” and Alpha tells him to “look”. He sees Enid’s face.

Rosita jumps into the water and pulls Siddiq out. They sit on the dock and she wants to know what’s going on, the truth and not the story he tells everyone. He reveals that he feels like he never left the barn, but it’s all in pieces. He can hear the screams and he knows the smell. He can’t do anything. And now people are dying in Alexandria and he can’t stop it. Rosita tells him that he’s not alone.

Siddiq reveals that Dante bothers him so much because Dante is there and Enid isn’t. Every time he sees him, it reminds him of losing her. Rosita tries to tell him that it wasn’t his fault, but he insists that he feels like he didn’t do anything. People were dying and he just watched, and now more people are dying. When he tries to say he isn’t smart enough, she calls him out. He has to fight it, for Coco and for her and for everyone else. He’s not alone.

While they sit there, Siddiq tries to figure out the common denominator between the people who are sick. His eyes widen as he looks at the water, and he tells Rosita to go home at once.

At the pumps, Siddiq realizes that someone has reversed the flow of drinking water with non-potable water. He starts breaking things.
