3 reasons The Walking Dead deserves a Golden Globe nomination

Foreign Appeal

The biggest reason that The Walking Dead should receive at least one (if not several) Golden Globe nominations is that the Golden Globe Awards are handed out by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. The Walking Dead has a massive worldwide following and if ever there was a chance for the show to be recognized, it deserves to be recognized by the Hollywood Foreign Press.

Every time the cast makes an appearance abroad, there is a massive fan turnout. The show continues to dominate ratings all over the world on both AMC International and Fox International Channels, and in 2018 the show beat Game of Thrones as the most pirated television show, reclaiming a title it held back in 2014.

While being a popular show doesn’t necessarily translate to being nominated for awards (though we’ll have to call this into question if Game of Thrones is nominated for season 8…) the Hollywood Foreign Press is known for going against the grain when it comes to nominating shows that wouldn’t otherwise receive nominations.
