Fear The Walking Dead fans have hoped that Madison Clark could return, and Kim Dickens recently teased that the character could pop up anytime.

Almost two years have passed since fan favorite Madison Clark was killed off of Fear The Walking Dead and fans still have a lot of hope left for her return. Although Madison seemed to have sacrificed herself for her kids, her death was very open-ended, hinting that her survival was possible, given the circumstances. In a recent interview, Kim Dickens sparked some signs that she may actually be returning to the show after all this time.

In a recent interview with Access Hollywood, Dickens stated that she is aware that some fans are still upset about her character being killed off. She then goes to say that Madison can pop up anytime, that she would have climbed that wall for her kids:

"“Yeah I know. I think–I think fans are still upset about it at times. I don’t know. But that’s the nature of the genre though. You can be gone like that. You can also pop up sometimes, at anytime”“She would have scurried up that wall like nobody’s business, she had kids on the other side of that wall, she was going to go get them”"

The weird thing is a while back when she was asked by Comic Book’s Brandon Davis if Madison could ever return, Dickens seemed to think it would never happen, she nearly flat-out shut down the idea of it. “I don’t think that’s how it works, I don’t think they do come back,” she’d said at the time.

Now, Dickens seems to have changed her opinion on whether a character in this universe can come back or not. Surprisingly, Dickens seemed to be pretty excited about the idea of her character returning, especially when talking about what her characters mission would be. She also posted a picture of Madison Clark recently on her Instagram locking up the stadium before her death making a small joke about grocery shopping during the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Even though this was just a joke, it seems rather like a subtle hint given that she posted it shortly after this interview took place.

What story can be told here?

After all of this time, how could Madison Clark fit back into the Fear the Walking Dead story?

Madison’s journey would be a mystery, we will want to know what has gone on with her all this time. Morgan and Madison, who are both leaders, will have to work together. Both are very different and we would likely see major tension between both characters, similar to Carol and Morgan’s tensions back in The Walking Dead 608 “Start To Finish”.

A huge theory going around social media is that Madison Clark will be the one to save Morgan Jones after he was shot in the shoulder by the newest villain, Virginia. Maybe her return is in the works, and it could have been for a long time. In Fear the Walking Dead 511 “You’re Still Here” Alicia Clark painted a tree in a way to remember he mother with Madison’s quote “No one’s gone until they’re gone”, and in the episode you see Morgan looking at this tree. It may be a long shot but could this have been a bit of foreshadowing of Madison Clark being the one to save him at his time in need?

Obviously the idea of Dickens returning is speculation at this point, but based on past events Madison coming back wouldn’t be hard to believe. In past seasons Daniel Salazar has come back twice after close encounters with death. If Daniel looking death in the face and coming back from it can happen more than once, it gives us a lot of hope that down the road we will see Madison Clark again.
