AMC’s new gem Friday Night In gets additional episodes
AMC extends Friday Night In with the Morgans with an order for more episodes, citing the show’s popularity and ability to bring people together.
By all accounts, Friday Night In with the Morgans was an experiment. With so much uncertainty surrounding the ability to start production on The Walking Dead’s universe of shows, AMC took a gamble with a show featuring good-natured chats between hosts Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Hilarie Burton Morgan and their friends – and that gamble paid off. Now the show is getting an additional four episodes to keep the fun rolling.
Deadline reports that AMC has given the green light for four more episodes of the Friday night chat, filmed by the Morgans at their home on Mischief Farm. That’s great news for fans who have come to enjoy seeing the Morgans on their television screens on Friday nights while we self-quarantine.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan was very pleased by the news, posting about it on his social media: “Cool beans. Thanks to everyone for watching…it’s because of you…we are doing more.”
Sarah Barnett, president of AMC Networks’ Entertainment Group and AMC Studios, raved about how the show exceeded all expectations:
"Friday Night In was an experiment that has worked! It worked because the Morgans are effortless and delightful hosts, and the conversations with their friends are uplifting, hilarious, sweet, relatable, playful and meaningful. The show has generated delighted buzz and social engagement, we all want to see more of Jeffrey and Hilarie and their enthusiastic embrace of their friends and community during this time."
Past guests include a mix of the Morgans’ local friends, their Hollywood friends and members of The Walking Dead Universe, including Christian Serratos, Sarah Wayne Callies, Michael Cudlitz and Fear the Walking Dead star Colman Domingo. Thanks to video conferencing technology, the possibilities are endless when it comes to future guests.
Recently, AMC gave the green light to a Sunday brunch show, Bottomless Brunch with Colman, featuring Colman Domingo and his friends. The show airs Sundays at 2pm ET on AMC’s The Walking Dead YouTube channel.
Guests for the May 8 episode of Friday Night In with the Morgans include Paul and Julie Rudd, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos and John Traver of Astoria’s famed Samuel’s Sweet Shop.
