Michael Cudlitz returns to primetime TV with the new CBS series Clarice.

Abe’s Army rejoice! The Walking Dead alum Michael Cudlitz is officially returning primetime in the upcoming CBS series Clarice. CBS picked up the new series as part of its 2020-2021 lineup.

Clarice follows the story of FBI Agent Clarice Starling in the months following the events that took place in The Silence of the Lambs. Rebecca Breed stars as Starling, following in the footsteps of Jodie Foster and Julianne Moore. Breed will be joined by Cudlitz, Kal Penn, Lucca De Oliveira and Devyn A. Tyler.

Though details are scarce about Clarice other than the timeline of the story, the idea of a show that follows Agent Starling’s post-Silence of the Lambs career is intriguing. This would have been a formative time in the young agent’s life, and the series will provide enough space to really take a deep dive into her story.

Cudlitz recently appeared in ABC’s family comedy The Kids Are Alright. Though the show only aired for one season, it developed quite a following as a feel-good comedy that follows the story of family man Mike Cleary, his wife Peggy and their eight sons in 1970s America.

The actual premiere date for the show is up in the air thanks to the impact of novel coronavirus, which has shut down production on virtually every current and upcoming show. With the production delays in effects and no return to filming in sight, there is a good chance that Clarice will premiere toward the end of 2020 if not in 2021.

Cudlitz, who is widely known in The Walking Dead circles as Abraham Ford, has been very active in The Walking Dead Universe as a director. He has directed several episodes of The Walking Dead to date and he also went behind the camera in the upcoming spinoff World Beyond, which is scheduled to premiere in fall 2020.
