Fear TWD’s Ruben Blades has lived an incredible life, as seen in his photos.

It’s Ruben Blades’ birthday and the Fear the Walking Dead star has been taking a little walk down memory lane by sharing photos from days gone by on Instagram. We celebrate Blades, his incredible life and his many contributions to the Fear TWD universe.

As fans know, Ruben Blades has lived an incredible life. He’s an actor, a world-renowned musician, and he is also an activist and politician. (Look up the definition of “multi-hyphenate” in the dictionary and you’ll see his picture!) Over the years as a musician, though, he has connected with some of music’s biggest names.

Blades has led such an incredibly fascinating life, much like his Fear the Walking Dead character Daniel Salazar. When we first met Salazar he was a barber working in the middle of the riots in Los Angeles, but soon the dedicated family man’s past came to light and we learned that prior to coming to America he was a soldier in El Salvador. His role and his training in the military, both of which were a surprise to daughter Ofelia, made him uniquely suited to torture people in order to get information.

Salazar is quite the chameleon. He disappeared after the fire at Casa de Abigail in season 2, then he made his way to the dam in season 3. After the explosion at the dam he disappeared again, only to emerge in Texas in season 5 with a warehouse full of supplies and a cat named Skidmark.

Now that he is part of a group again, Salazar’s instincts to protect the people he cares about are as strong as ever. He bonded with Charlie, vowing to find his way back to her after Virginia’s people separated everyone at the end of season 5.

Fans will be able to catch up with Blades during the Fear the Walking Dead panel at Comic-Con at Home on July 24, and hopefully a release date for the first half of Fear TWD season 6 will be announced as well.
