The Walking Dead comics’ main run may have ended but exciting new character stories can still be told in the form of one-shot comics like Negan Lives.

One of the huge reasons The Walking Dead has dominated media for years is because of the size of its universe. The Walking Dead has it’s hit main show, the Fear The Walking Dead spin-off, as well as a new show The Walking Dead: World Beyond. It also has a few mini webisode series, several video games, and novels, etc. However, everything we have now is because of the amazing comic series that Robert Kirkman wrote.

Sadly last year it came to an end with issue 193. While it may be saddening that it ended, it went out on an incredibly high note. Fans got to see how far many characters made it and how their lives ended up, however not all characters. This immediately sparked conversation for future content and one of those big character names was Negan.

Now that we have a one-shot comic for Negan, and the cryptic “P.S. Clementine lives” message at the end of letter hacks, it seems as if a new world of comic opportunity is upon the fandom! Again, not all comic characters got a fitting ending for the size of their character. So a series of one-shots detailing stories could uniquely expand the universe.

Robert Kirkman will be hosting his own panel at San Deigo Comic-Con at home, so this would be a perfect place to discuss a series like this or expand on what exactly he meant by saying beloved fan-favorite Clementine is still alive. Clementine is one of the most adored characters in the entire universe, so even a bread crumb can leave fans with tears of joy.

For fans new to some areas of The Walking Dead universe, the comic series and the main video game with Clementine are within the same universe and canon to each other. The video game even has some cross over characters like Glenn, Hershel, and Jesus. This list will heavily feature comic, and video game characters as well as two characters from Fear The Walking Dead. They aren’t canon to the comic universe however I think they would make for a fun read!

Before jumping into the top 10, I want to appreciate two honorable mentions that fell shy of the main list. Those are Kenny from the video game, and little Andrea from the comic! In issue 193 of the comic, we get to meet Carl’s precious young daughter Andrea. She looks like the perfect blend of her father Carl, and her mother Sophia.

Issue 193 never fails to make me cry and one huge reason is cute little Andrea, her name, her attitude, everything is perfect. Seeing her sitting in a rocking chair with her father listening to a story about her grandfather makes my heart explode and I simply can’t contain myself. She falls just shy of the list because a story about her future could just simply be a normal story with no walkers or threats aside from what we face now in society.

So much can be said for Kenny, hardcore fans of this character will follow him to the ends of the earth (me included), and not putting him on the main ten is hard. However when you play this video game your choices for this character matter a great deal. His story and fate are determinant. Which makes it hard to angle a way that a one-shot comic wouldn’t be totally game-breaking.

If Kenny got his own one-shot comic, it would have to be in the time he went missing from season 1 to season 2 when Clementine reunites with him. Certainly, this would make for a great story, however, with the amazing story we get with him for the rest of season 2 perhaps it’s best to leave his story where it is.

With honorable mentions out of the way, let’s hop into the top 10!
