What do we want to see from Daryl in the season 10 finale of The Walking Dead?

Daryl Dixon has been on The Walking Dead since the second episode of season one. He, along with Carol, are the last two Atlanta originals left in the series. Despite Daryl’s rough exterior, he has a soft spot for those he loves and has to endure many losses throughout the series. On October 4th, the finale of season 10 will air, and from the trailer, it looks like we are in for a wild ride.

Season ten has brought about many changes in The Walking Dead world. Michonne has left, Alpha, the leader of the Whisperers, is dead at the hand of Negan, Beta seems to be gearing up for war with his new horde, and Hilltop has been burnt to the ground.

Daryl Dixon has experienced much in season 10 included much strife with his best friend, Carol. What else can we expect for Daryl in the finale? Below are three things we need to see from Daryl.

Survival

The most important thing is his survival. The show could go on without Daryl, but it would be sad to lose one of the two remaining originals. Daryl has proven himself a leader since Rick has left the series. He has come alongside others to make a strong group instead of being isolated like he was immediately after he thought Rick had died.

Daryl is fiercely loyal and would most certainly put himself in danger to protect those he loves. The hope is he can protect others as well as himself with the looming attack by Beta and his horde.

Reconciliation

Daryl and Carol have been going through a major rough patch in their relationship. Carol has basically gone rogue and making decisions that Daryl just isn’t in agreement with. Negan shared the news with Daryl that he killed Alpha with the help of Carol. It was finally revealed, what a lot of fans had already speculated about, that Carol was the one who let Negan out of his cell. She did it with the understanding that Negan would kill Alpha.

Carol and Daryl are headed for some sort of confrontation regarding all the choices that she made without consulting Daryl. The hope is they have been friends long enough to ensure they can come to some common ground and that this doesn’t tear them further apart.

Collaboration

We need a Daryl/Negan collaboration. Beta is angry and going through a mental breakdown after the loss of his beloved Alpha. He is hellbent on destroying anyone who was involved in her death. Did you see that horde he has complied at Alexandria? He means to kill anyone who isn’t on his side.

Negan and Daryl have bad blood between them that may never be able to be resolved, but if they can team up with Carol, Aaron, and the others to take on Beta, they can win this war. This is for the greater good, greater than either of these men, but it can’t be done without teamwork.
