7. Axel

  • Debut: Episode 301
  • Death: Episode 310
  • Total run: 10 episodes
  • Appeared in: 8 episodes

An inmate at West Georgia Correctional Facility, Axel was convicted of armed robbery and was staying safe from undead by staying inside the walls of the facility and using those resources to sustain himself.

Part of a group of inmates, it’s easy to say that Axel was by far the most relatable of those in prison garb. While others created conflict with Rick or had questionable motives, Axel seemed like he wanted to be part of a bigger group and could have been welcomed had he been given the opportunity to prove himself.

He was flirting a little with Carol at the prison when one of the most surprising deaths of the season happened. The Governor put a bullet directly into Axel’s skull and Carol was forced to use his dead body as a shield to escape.

The shocking end to Axel eliminated any hope that something could form between him and Carol or that he could join the survivors and contribute to a group that could have used some numbers on their side against the Governor and future threats.
