3 WTF moments from The Walking Dead: World Beyond episode 102
By Sara Large
1. Felix being disowned
There is simply no way something else could top this WTF list. Degrading and disowning your child over their sexuality is so disgusting and abhorrent. Felix’s father is the definition of the statement “All kids deserve parents, but not all parents deserve kids.” It’s so clear even after everything his mother and father put him through that Felix still cares for them, and it speaks volumes about the type of character he is.
Still, seeing a father say such horrible things to his own child who has done nothing but support and love him was so hard for countless viewers. This episode aired on National Coming Out day so it made the sting that much worse. Even though it was an awful moment, it is a story that needs to be told because it is an unfortunate reality to so many LGBTQIA+ individuals.
Fortunately, it seems like this treatment has pushed Felix in a more positive direction. He is the head of the security team, and he teaches children about how to be safe. Something he likely never felt. When it came down to Hope and Iris leaving, he didn’t even hesitate to go find them even if it meant something bad with CRM.
Felix is a shining example of a good person who pushed through adversity thrown his way and came out stronger in the end. Clearly the words still haunt him and will haunt fans for years to come, but it’s rather beautiful seeing what was born into negativity succeed so much. It seems that the next episode has Felix meeting up with the teenagers, so fingers crossed he and everyone else make it out alive!
