The Carol and Daryl spin-off of The Walking Dead originally looked different

The Walking Dead fans have had some serious letdowns this year, more specifically the announcement of the ending of the series coming after season eleven. There have been some fun announcements like the six bonus episodes to season 10, the Tales of the Walking Dead anthology series and the Carol and Daryl spinoff.

We’ve recently learned that the spinoff series for Carol and Daryl initially had a different look to it.

This series was talked about in 2018 between showrunner Angela Kang and Norman Reedus during the filming of the episode Greg Nicotero directed, “The Storm,” which was the season nine finale.

Kang and Reedus discussed the fact that Scott M. Gimple, chief content director, was also on board for this spin-off series. But, at that time, the series had a different look than what was announced.

Talks around the Carol and Daryl series was had well before the sudden announcement that the series would end with its eleventh season. The original plan had Carol and  Daryl leave the main series to do their own show while the main show continued. The other idea with that was to have them occasionally pop back into the main series for visits before they would again head out to parts unknown.

Since the eleventh season will be the conclusion of the series, the plan now is to have the Carol and Daryl series will act as a continuation of the series.

What this looks like is anyone’s guess. I am sure we could see the inclusion of other Walking Dead cast members. Some have expressed thoughts this series could line up with Fear the Walking Dead at some point. Right now, it is anyone’s guess.
