Connecting The Walking Dead: ‘Madman Across The Water’

1) No Crossing Allowed
Much of this episode of World Beyond, when not focusing on Elton, focused on the group trying to find the means to cross their toughest natural obstacle, the Mississippi River.
As everyone looked around for a means to cross, everyone notices a demolished bridge in the distance, and, according to Huck, the military blew all the bridges crossing the Mississippi when things went bad.
Well, first, this reveals that, while we may not have seen Cobalt in the area the group have been traveling through (Though, there’s still the possibility that we will later), the government certainly did visit a certain amount of destruction on the region, specifically the bridges. Maybe they learned what I’ve been saying about how dangerous bridges are…
Second, this raises another question: When, exactly, did this happen? From what we saw of Lincoln, the government either didn’t feel the need or didn’t have the chance to launch Cobalt on that city. Obviously, the situation would have been different in Missouri, but, was this decision to blow the bridges before or after Cobalt? Did they blow the bridges preemptively once they realized many cities couldn’t hold, or after, as a last ditch effort to protect the populace on either side of the river from mass hordes of empties.
Third, since we only see the small portion the group sees, I have to ask: Did they do this everywhere along the river? Were there any portions that they missed or, more likely, didn’t get a chance to cut off?
I’m kind of hoping we meet someone (Maybe the person the group met at the end of the episode?) from the area who shows us a flashback…
