Jon Bernthal shares thoughts about a possible season three of The Punisher
Jon Bernthal has been a busy man since his days as Shane Walsh on The Walking Dead. We’ve seen him in many projects such as Ford v Ferrari, Daredevil, Baby Driver, and probably his most successful role as Frank Castle in The Punisher. Now, Bernthal teases that a third season could actually happen.
In an interview on Geek House Show, Bernthal states that there is always hope for a third season. He commented on how positively his portrayal of Frank Castle has been received.
There has been no official announcement about a third season, but Bernthal is ready for the call. He stated that Frank is in his bones and always with him.
When Netflix and Marvel Studios went their separate ways, which occurred when Disney decided to host its own streaming service, The Punisher series was canceled. But, now that Marvel is solely in charge of what happens to Frank Castle, the series could continue on on Disney Plus.
Bernthal has many new projects in the works, including a series that will be a continuation of the 1980s film American Gigolo. Bernthal will star as well as produce this series for Showtime. He will play Julian Kaye, who was originally played by Richard Gere.
Another interesting project is the origin story of Tony Soprano, entitles The Many Saints of Newark. Bernthal is cast as Giovanni “Johnny Boy” Soprano and will star alongside Michael Gandolfini, who plays Tony Soprano. He is the son of the late James Gandolfini, who played Tony in the HBO series The Sopranos. This film was set to release in September 2020 but due to the pandemic now has a release date of March 2021.
Even if The Punisher doesn’t get another season, rest assured you will still be able to catch Bernthal in many other projects in the near future. Keep watching Undead Walking for news of Bernthal and any new projects he is working on.
