It’s well known that Robert Kirkman loves to put Easter eggs in the content he creates. Viewers have seen this on The Walking Dead a handful of times. When fans meet Carl, he is wearing a Science Dog shirt. Later in the series, Carl is also seen reading an Invincible comic! Invincible lego characters also make an appearance on The Walking Dead tv series. This time Invincible was able to return the favor and nod in the direction of The Walking Dead!

The following will contain minor spoilers that do NOT ruin any big events in the episode!

In the premiere episode of Invincible, before Mark Grayson decides on his official superhero name or costume, he struggles a bit with deciding. At one point, he is dealing with a minor crime, fending off a villain. He jokingly asks the villain for ideas for his name and then proceeds to give this person a good ass-kicking. When he realizes the person is down, he states to himself, “Huh, what about Ass Kicker? No… that sounds willfully childish. What are you thinking?”

Fans of The Walking Dead immediately recognized the name spoke by Steven Yeun! When he was playing Glenn on The Walking Dead, he was in the scene where Daryl gives Judith the nickname “little ass-kicker.” It’s backed up by the fact Mark Grayson says the name choice is willfully childish and asks what he was thinking in the first place. The fans know Mark! You were reminded of the first time you had difficulty thinking of a name in an alternate universe.

Fans of The Walking Dead TV series heard something very familiar on the Invincible premiere episode on Amazon Prime Video!

It’s fascinating to see Steven Yeun in the leading role on Invincible. He nailed his performance bigtime. Hopefully, there will be more Easter eggs involving The Walking Dead and other creations Robert Kirkman works on throughout the series. This tiny Easter egg was very delightful and brought smiles to many fans. Tune in every Friday to Amazon Prime Video to see new episodes of Invincible.
