AMC’s series The Walking Dead has already started the filming of its final season. The series that has spanned over 10 years will end after the airing of its eleventh season. Over the course of this series, the fandom has grown by leaps and bounds. Something that started with a comic book has now expanded into a whole franchise.

Season ten will end with the final bonus episode, “Here’s Negan,” on April 4. The tenth season saw many obstacles in filming and release dates due to the pandemic. The season finale should have aired in October 2020 but was unable to be completed at that time and didn’t air until February 2021.

Now the question that is forefront in viewer’s minds is when will get season eleven episodes?

Will The Walking Dead season eleven stick to the traditional release timeline?

Traditionally, the most recent season would release on Netflix about a month before the new season was scheduled to release. Then new season would release sometime during October. The Walking Dead Twitter account posted that we could see a new episode from season eleven as soon as this summer.

This is totally realistic as filming has already started, and now that they are filming digitally, things move along faster. If we look at the timeline, Fear The Walking Dead will start airing on April 11, and with its nine-week run, that would put us at about June 13, which sounds like a great day to release 1101.

The eleventh season has a lot to live up to, as many fans weren’t happy with the six bonus episodes. But, many fans enjoyed them for what they were, filler episodes filmed during a pandemic. The bonus episodes were always described in that manner, and it was explained that these episodes would be character-centric. Everyone has their favorite episodes, and they also have their least favorites, as with any series.

In 2014, The Walking Dead had the biggest cable audience for a non-sports program in the US with the premiere episode of season five, “No Sanctuary.” Since then, viewership has dropped dramatically. The final season is sure to bring back many viewers as they will want to see what happens in the end.
