After Gus, Ainsley and Maya are shot and killed, Maggie and Daryl take cover to determine the location of the threat. When they figure out there is only one gunman, by listening to the shots and pauses, they can make this determination, they set a plan into motion.

Maggie decides to flank the shooter while Daryl keeps his attention. When she discovers his hiding spot, he is gone, but his rifle is still there. He lunges at her, and she stabs him. He pulls the knife from his chest and throws it back at Maggie. She lunges but is then caught in a snare and finds herself hanging upside down. Before the man can attack her, Daryl shoots him with an arrow. He flings Daryl against a tree like a rag doll as Maggie frees herself. Kelly, Elijah and Cole arrive on the scene, and Kelly shoots him with an arrow.

Maggie questions him, but his only reply is, “Pope marked you,” before he pulls the pin from a grenade that blows up and kills him. This is our introduction to the Reapers, who may very well become a larger threat to Alexandria in season eleven.
