The Walking Dead alum, Samantha Morton, celebrates her birthday today, and we want to wish her a very happy day.

Morton played Alpha, the terrifying leader of the Whisperers in seasons nine and ten. The character couldn’t have been better cast. Morton’s portrayal was just as it should be, and she used her talents to bring the comic book character to life. The Whisperer war had to end sometime and with that ended Morton’s time on the series.

Perhaps the Tales of the Walking Dead anthology series, which will come out after the finale season of the series, will feature an Alpha backstory fleshing out what little we know about her past. It would give Morton’s fans a chance to see her again in the world of The Walking Dead.

Many fans took to social media today to wish the actress a happy day.  Morton posted the photo below celebrating her 44th year with egg custard and a new camera.

What new projects does Samantha Mortan have in the works?

Before she transformed into one of The Walking Dead’s most vicious villains, Morton had roles in Harlots, Rillington Place, The Last Panthers and voiced the character, Ruby, in the Max and Ruby animated series.

Recently it was announced that she would take on the lead role in Starz’s new series, The Serpent Queen, where she will portray Catherine de Medici. The series is adapted from the novel  “Catherine de Medici: Renaissance Queen of France” written by Leonie Frieda.

Deadline has reported that Morton will be joined by Amrita Acharia, Enzo Cilenti, Barry Atsma, Nicholas Burns and Danny Kirrane who have been cast for her royal court. Additional actors who will have recurring roles include Ludivine Sagnier, Liv Hill, Kiruna Stamell and Colm Meany.

She will also star in Save the Cinema, where she plays Liz Evans, a woman who lived in Wales in the 90s and campaigned to save the Lyric Cinema. Another project film she is set to star in is The Whale. This film is about a severely obese English teacher to seeks to reconnect with his estranged daughter.
