AMC and The Walking Dead are making sure that the final season of the series will be something to remember. On theTalking Dead episode that aired on June 13, it was announced that a preview special will air one week ahead of the premiere.

This special will be hosted by Talking Dead’s Chris Hardwick with a guest list TBA. Guests will include cast members, showrunners and others involved in the making of the eleventh season. This special will air on August 15, one week ahead of the premiere.

Additionally, it was announced that a special “11 weeks of reveals until season 11” will begin airing on June 15 and each week following until the season premiere. The reveals will focus on the first eight episodes of The Walking Dead: The final season Part 1.   The reveals will also include 4 episodes of The Walking Dead: Origins, character-centric deep dives into 4 favorite characters.

If AMC is exerting this much energy into hyping fans up for this final episode and give as much energy to the creation of this season, viewers are in for something special. Showrunner Angela Kang has promised that the series will get back to the “usual scope and scale” that fans are used to.

The final season of The Walking Dead will consist of 24 episodes broken down into 3 parts. The first of the three parts will begin airing on AMC on August 22. If they keep with the current schedule, these episodes will air on AMC+ the Thursday ahead of the Sunday airing.

The Walking Dead fandom is far from over, but it will be the beginning of the end for the flagship when the first episode of this season airs. The loss of this series is something fans will mourn.
