In season 4 of The Walking Dead, fans were introduced to the comic book character Abraham Ford. This character was brought to life in the series by Michael Cudlitz. He did an outstanding job portraying this character with his quick wit and Abraham-isms; he became a fan favorite. Since being killed off the series, Cudlitz has returned to TWDU as a director and will be doing so for the final season as well.

Abraham Ford and his travel companions Rosita Espinosa (Chrisitan Serratos) and Eugene Porter (Josh McDermitt) were first introduced in 410 “Inmates.” If you remember, this was after the fall of the prison, and Glenn (Steven Yeun) and Tara (Alanna Masterson) were on the road searching for Maggie (Lauren Cohan). After some walkers attack Glenn and Tara, Abraham and company pull up in a military vehicle and climb out.

Abraham would eventually become a vital part of Rick’s group, and his death at the hands of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) was as brutal as they come. I would have loved to see him interact with Alpha (Samantha Morton); I can just imagine some of the outlandish things he would have to say about her and her skin-wearing group.

Michael Cudlitz Walking Dead director

Cudlitz has returned to TWDU, this time as a director. So far, he has directed three episodes for The Walking Dead and two for The Walking Dead: World Beyond. He directed “Stradivarius,” “Silence the Whisperers,” and “Open Your Eyes” for The Walking Dead. The episodes he directed for World Beyond are “Shadow Puppets” and “Truth or Dare.”

Recently he posted this teaser post on his Twitter account. You can see in the comment thread that fans were excited that it might be Walking Dead related.

He followed with this Tweet a week later.

It will be exciting to see what episodes he is involved in for the final season. “Open Your Eyes” was one of the great episodes in season 10. That whole Siddiq/Dante story was shocking and amazing. Hopefully, Cudlitz can direct more than one episode for season 11.

Next, he will star in a film, Red Stone, with Neal McDonough and fellow Walking Dead castmate Jason Douglas. Cudlitz will play Jed Haywood, a ruthless southern crime lord.

He will star in Manifest West with another TWDU cast member, Annet Mahendrue, who plays Huck in World Beyond. This film is a coming-of-age story of a young girl whose family lives off the grid.
