The Walking Dead final season countdown: New season 11 photos

On August 22, fans of The Walking Dead will once again gather to watch the season premiere of the series. This time it will be much different as this is the beginning of the end. As we count down to this date, AMC has released weekly reveals to build the excitement for season 11.

This week The Walking Dead: Origins featured Maggie’s Story, which included a clip from the upcoming season. From what we have seen so far, this season will start dark and grim. Alexandria is in peril, food is scarce and new threats loom over our group.

This season will introduce us to the Commonwealth, a very advanced community where over 50,000 survivors reside. A new threat, the Reapers, is looking to be a very dangerous group that Maggie, Negan, Daryl and the others will meet head-on.

AMC released new character photos and details for season 11.

In season 10c, we saw the return of Maggie and her son Hershel. They brought with them some of the members of her new group, The Wardens.

While Maggie has blocked out the horror of things seen and done in order to persevere, she is even more determined to fight for a future. A future for her son. But with the constant presence of Negan getting under her skin does she have as much control as she believes?

Negan’s season 10c episode gave us a backstory on what made the man into the villain. The return of Maggie also brings the memories of what he did to her husband, Glenn. Will there be a confrontation?

Negan secured a hard-earned place within the community, which Maggie threatens. He does not like her holding his fate. But this is about survival, and Negan knows how to survive.

Rosita is a character that has experienced much heartache but has stood strong and is an asset to the group.

Rosita is adept at raising her daughter and rising to the demands of any mission. She is an unyielding soldier and mother who remains calm under pressure. As a critical leader at Alexandria, she weighs what is the best course of action against all odds & differing opinions.

Father Gabriel is a man who has grown since our first introduction to him as a sniveling coward
who sacrificed his congregation to save his own life. Now, he is a fighter and a voice of reason among the group.

Rather than speak with God, Gabriel speaks in hard truths. He may be in a dark place, but it is allowing him to see clearly. He is stable and able to fight for the group in any capacity. If God is reaching out to Gabriel, He will have to wait.

Aaron is another character who has lost much but is a powerful force in the community. He is a fighter and will do what he has to do to protect his daughter and friends.

Suffering from trauma inflicted on the road, safety is of the utmost importance for Aaron. It’s personal. It’s his daughter. It’s the community he helped build. Usually driven by compassion, Aaron questions if there is humanity left in the world.

Alden is a man who would follow someone he feels is a great leader to the ends of the earth.

Alden is a man of great loyalty and little tolerance. He has always looked at his surroundings and decided his own truth. With Hilltop burned down and Alexandria in shambles, his senses and observations are on higher alert.

Magna is a survivor. She is fierce, and with a new lease on life, she will be a formidable force.

Magna came out of the cave with a different perspective: Life is too short. With her family dwindling, she protects from near and far. She will not engage in the meaningless, but rest assured, she will take a stand on big important issues.

Lydia has overcome an upbringing that would have defeated a weaker person. She has confidence that will be strengthened by her new surroundings.

Lydia is a trusted soldier in the community. Confident, she adds her opinions, even if it means clashing with others. She knows not to let others speak for her ever again. That is what it means to truly be a part of a family, and she is family.

The Walking Dead will return to AMC on August 22.
