As we draw near to the premiere of the final season of The Walking Dead, AMC is releasing weekly reveals for part 1 of that season. There have been first look photos, title names for the first eight episodes, character bios, and some clips from the upcoming season. There have also been two episodes of the mini-series The Walking Dead: Origins.

Last week Daryl’s Story was told in the Origins series, and this week Maggie’s Story is shared. Some fans were disappointed as the title made one think this would be an origin story about the characters featuring a backstory. This series shows clips of the character throughout the series with new commentary from the actor.

It is a wonderful trip down memory lane of where these characters have come from since their introduction to the series. As we prepare ourselves for the ending of The Walking Dead, these stories remind us why we love this series. Along with the episode, a new clip of the character in season 11 is also released.

This week’s clip is once again in this mysterious subway tunnel. We have seen the photo of a group of them in the subway tunnel and an eerie clip of Daryl and Dog exploring this tunnel.

This week things get even creepier than Daryl’s discovery of the decomposing corpse who had been handcuffed to a briefcase full of money.

In some of the teasers, we have seen clips of what appeared to be body bags. In this week’s reveal, we get a much closer look at this. The tunnel is lined with an enormous amount body bags. We see Daryl approach one, and it moves! There are walkers in these bags, and as the camera pans out, we see a never-ending line of bodies. Daryl kills the walker, and they realize the walker didn’t make a sound. They discover the throat had been slash so deep it cut the vocal cords.

One of the group members, Gage (Jackson Pace) asks, “The guys we going after do this?” So, we now know they are following someone. My money is on the Reapers. I feel this group is going to put our group to the test.

In this clip, Maggie says these people were killed during the fall. I am unsure what makes her think this and exactly what fall means. If they are following the Reapers, Maggie does have experience with them and how they operate. Regardless, she tells the group that she isn’t stopping. Whatever their mission, Maggie isn’t ready to give up.

Maggie Rhee season 11 The Walking Dead

We saw the return of Maggie in season 10c, “Home Sweet Home.” She had been away with her son Hershel for many years. When she returns, she brings with her some of her new group called The Wardens.  She is also given the sad news of the burning of the Hilltop community.

Maggie is no stranger to heartache, and upon her return, she must face the fact that Negan, the man who brutally killed her husband Glenn, roams free in Alexandria. Viewers know that Negan has made huge strides toward redemption for his past actions and was the one who ended Alpha’s reign of terror, but Maggie only remembers what he did in the past.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Angela Kang had this to say about the two characters:

"There’s a big, important story that has to do with Maggie and Negan. And I think it should be fascinating. Those two are really, really great across from each other."

Negan’s comment below is the understatement of the year.
