As we head into the final season of The Walking Dead, there are many open-ended stories that have to be tied up. The final season will consist of 24 episodes released in three parts giving the writers plenty of time. The first eight episodes look to be very dark and tense. One character whose story left us on the edge of a cliff in season 10 was Eugene Porter, played by Josh McDermitt.

This week during interviews with the cast, McDermitt was tasked with answering as many fan questions as possible in 40 seconds. These answers are solid gold and I want to see that perm!

The Q & A was as follows:

How hard is it to learn Eugene’s Language?   The Hardest.

What’s your favorite Eugene line?  “That’s classified.”

What was the most intense scene to film? Abraham and Glenn’s death. The worst.

Who would win in a fight Eugene or Gabriel?  Eugene because inside Eugene is a wild beast.

How would you describe Eugene’s relationship with Rosita?  Muy Caliente.

What should Eugene’s next hairstyle be? A perm, please. Why do we have to end the show? We haven’t even done a perm yet.

We last saw Eugene being held by the Commonwealth with Ezekiel, Princess and Yumiko. This was after Eugene convinced the group to meet up with his radio contact Stephanie. Instead, they were met by an intimidating group of soldiers dressed in what looks like stormtrooper costumes. Fans of the comics knew these uniforms all too well. This is the Commonwealth.

Things didn’t go very well during their interrogation/entrance interviews, and Princess was put through the wringer in the season 10c episode “Splinter.” At the end of that episode, Princess emerged from her boxcar to find the remaining three of her group with sacks on their heads and hands tied.

The synopsis for season 11 tells us this group will be moved to a new location, and first look photos show what appears to be some type of holding cell. When viewing the trailer, we see the group running from someone/something, but it is unclear if they have escaped or what is going on.

During Comic Con@Home, McDermitt commented on his trust in Stephine and himself. He believes Eugene put his full trust in Stephanie and is now questioning his actions that have resulted in the group being captured.

"He’s certainly doing this for the people back home in Alexandria, but I think he’s also starting to feel the guilt of his friends getting captured, with Princess, Ezekiel, and Yumiko, and is starting to question, ‘Hey, did I make the right call?’"

In 2020 it was announced that Margot Bingham would play the role of Stephanie in season 11. We have only heard her voice before, so it will be wonderful to put a face to the voice in season 11.

The casting for the governor of the Commonwealth has been announced. Pamela Milton will be played by Laila Robins and her deputy; Lance Hornsby will be played by Josh Hamilton. This tells us the Commonwealth will be a big storyline going into the final season.

How will our group fare? Only time will tell.
