The Walking Dead crew shares photos ahead of season 11 premiere
By Renee Hansen
The beginning of the end is upon us. AMC will premiere The Walking Dead final season episode one on August 22. Many have already viewed this episode via AMC+, but the Sunday night airing of this episode, in my mind, is the official launch of the beginning of this season.
In September 2020, the fandom received the news that the eleventh season would be the final one for the flagship series. This was a blow to fans, and AMC tried to soothe us with the spin-off announcements and reminders about the Rick Grimes-centered movies. Although that all sounds great, the ending of the series was a tough pill to swallow.
After ten seasons, fans have vested much time into the series and characters. The fandom has grown way beyond just a series. TWD Family is truly a group of fans who consider themselves family members.
On August 22, when AMC airs the first episode, “Acheron Part 1,” TWD Family will gather and live Tweet just like always.
The Walking Dead final season
Some of the crew have posted on their social media pages for the first episode.
SFX creator and director Greg Nicotero shared a chilling photo on his IG page. This photo shows wall-to-wall walkers in what appears to be the military base that Daryl located.
Kevin Deiboldt, a writer for the series, shared a doodle with a caption stating that work for this season started in January of 2020. He also shared that he is so thankful to be a small part of the incredible team who work on this series.
Showrunner Angela Kang paid homage to the badass Melissa McBride, who plays Carol Peletier in the series.
And Duane Charles Manwiller, who I have told you all is a MUST follow for any TWD fan, posted this amazing BTS photo. He also shared the news that half of season eleven has officially been filmed.
The Walking Dead returns to AMC on August 22 at 9 PM ET and will be followed by Talking Dead.
