The Walking Dead final season is grooming the next generation
By Renee Hansen
We managed to survive the season premiere of The Walking Dead, and now we wait for the cliffhanger to flow into episode two. Meanwhile, let’s talk about the kids. As things have progressed, we have gotten quite the crew of younger survivors.
We have watched Judith Grimes from the day she was born. Now she is a fighter who is fearsome and wise beyond her years. She is smart and doesn’t back down. She is the epitome of the term ‘it takes a village’ as she has been raised by her father Rick, brother Carl, mother Michonne, uncle Daryl, and many others within the communities. In the most recent years, Michonne is the one who raised and taught her to fight.
As we head into the final season, it only makes sense for the next generation to start being groomed for the world they are living in. Who knows, perhaps we will see older versions of them in the movies, or perhaps an episode of Tales of The Walking Dead will feature the next generation in a “where are they now” sequence.
The Walking Dead the next generation
Judith is the best known of the children as she is a Grimes and in the forefront. Her brother RJ is also well known, he is a bit younger, so he isn’t seen as often. Gracie, Aaron’s daughter, is another one we hear about a bit more.
Other children in the community are:
Hershel – Maggie, mother
Mariam, Ezra and Aliyah – Jerry and Nabila, parents
Adam – Alden, current guardian
Coco – Rosita, mother
Many of these children are young, but they can hold a sword and be taught how to properly hold and weld one, as you can see in the photo below. Judith looks large and in charge in an upcoming episode, showing the kids how to hold weapons properly. It would be so adorable if it weren’t a life and death life skill for these kids.
I think they are in good hands with Judith as she has been battling for a while now. It is exciting to see more of the children in this series, especially with this being the finale season.
The Walking Dead “Acheron Part 2” will air on AMC on Sunday, August 29.
