Samantha Morton cast in Universal’s movie She Said

Samantha Morton played one of the great villains in The Walking Dead series. Her character Alpha lead a group of skin mask-wearing people called The Whisperers. Morton brought this comic book character to life and is one of the best cast characters in the series. The Hollywood Reporter has announced she has been cast in Universal’s film, She Said, about the journalist who exposed Harvey Weinstein’s history of abuse.

Harvey Weinstein was a household name for his work as a film producer on some amazing films. Now, he is known as a convicted sex offender. She Said is a film based on the 2019 novel, She Said: Breaking the Sexual Harassment Story That Helped Ignite a Movement, written by the two journalists who exposed Weinsteins’s abuse and sexual misconduct, Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey.

The film will be directed by Maria Schrader (Unorthodox) and Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner are producing.

Twohey and Kantor helped detail years of abuse and helped spark the #MeToo movement. Weinstein is currently serving 23 years for three decades of sexual harassment of actresses, female production assistants and other employees who worked for Miramax and The Weinstein Company.

The film is currently scheduled to be released by Universal Pictures on November 18, 2022.

Samantha Morton other new roles

Next, Morton can be seen in the film The Whale with Brendan Fraser, Hong Chau, Sadie Sink and Ty Simpkins.  A psychological drama based on Samuel D. Hunter’s play about a 600-pound man who tries to reconnect with 17 yr old daughter.

Save the Cinema is a British drama that Morton will play, Liz Evans, a hairdresser in Wales who begins a campaign to save the Lyric Theater from closing. This is based on a true story. The film also stars Jonathan Pryce, Tom Felton, Colm Meaney, Adeel Akhtar and Susan Wokoma.

Morton has also been cast in the Starz series The Serpent Queen. She will portray Catherine de Medici, a common woman who married into the 16th-century French court. The series is based on the novel written by Leonie Frieda titled Catherine de Medici: Renaissance Queen of France. Filming began in April 2021, so a release date has yet to be set for this series.
