This week’s episode of The Walking Dead, “Acheron Part 2,” was a doozy. We had the continued tension between Maggie and Negan, the looming threat and then reality of the Reapers, the walkers in the subway, more on the Commonwealth and Daryl and Dog on their own side trip. It was another amazing episode setting the final season up to end the series the best way possible.

We also saw more at the Commonwealth, with Yumiko standing up to the auditor’s and the group eventually becoming citizens of the community. Eugene finally met Stephanie, or rather someone they are trying to convince everyone is Stephanie.

The Reapers made their appearance, and it was impressive. These guys mean business, and I am unsure that our group is ready for a force of this magnitude.

The other story we saw was about Daryl and Dog, who were off on their own adventure. And who returned to save the day on the subway, so that is why…

THIS WEEKS MVP FOR ACHERON PART 2 IS – DARYL

It is no secret Daryl has been and always will be my favorite in the series. But, this week he earned the MVP for sure!

Daryl Dixon The Walking Dead

In the first two episodes, we see him following Maggie’s lead, but at times we see him get a quizzical look on his face like he isn’t quite sure what is being said is 100% accurate. Or that it is the truth but perhaps not the whole truth. And, although he has been civil to Negan, they will never be pals.

He was very guarded about what he discovered in the tunnel while away from the main group, but I am sure that we will circle around to that again.

The situation in the subway car would never have happened if Daryl was there. He would have done everything to ensure that they at least tried to save Gage. This point is proven when he did what he could to help Roy, who also abandoned the group.

But, the best was when he came in, with gun blazing and took out the walkers, shoved a grenade inside the mouth of one and turned them into a pulpy mess. It was outstanding, and the cinematography couldn’t have been better!

That’s not realistic? Excuse me, may I remind you that you are reading an article on a site dedicated to The Walking Dead. It doesn’t have to be realistic to be awesome!
