By Renee Hansen
Fans of The Walking Dead have been hearing rumors that Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes in the series, has been filming something for Netflix. Deadline is reporting that he will star in Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities, an anthology series for Netflix.
This project was titled Guillermo del Toro Presents 10 After Midnight and has now been retitled Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities.
Before you all freak out and think The Walking Dead movies can’t happen because Lincoln is starring in something else, he will star in ONE EPISODE, as this is an anthology series. This will in no way affect those movies.
The Walking Dead movies are currently being worked on per Gale Ann Hurd and Greg Nicotero. Much will be expected from the fandom for these movies, and the creators know this and are working to make sure they get things just right.
Andrew Lincoln in Cabinet of Curiosities for Netflix
There had been some rumors circulating that Lincoln had been doing some filming for Netflix in Canada. It seems those rumors are true. Production for del Toro’s collection of stories has begun in Toronto.
This anthology is set up to challenge our traditional notions of horror that will include eight horrific tales. Two of which are originals by EP and co-showrunner del Toro. J. Miles Dale, co-showrunner, and Gary Ungar, will also EP.
Directors for the episodes include Ana Lily Amirpour, Catherine Hardwicke, Guillermo Navarro, David Prior and Keith Thomas. And joining them are writers Haley Z. Boston, Regina Corrado, David S. Goyer, Lee Patterson, Aaron Stewart-Ahn and Mika Watkins.
Lincoln will star with Essie Davis (The Babadook) and Hannah Galway (Sex/Life) in his episode, one of the original stories del Toro. This episode is directed by Jennifer Kent (The Babadook). It looks like this episode will be the first of the series.
It will be exciting to see Lincoln star in another new project. Hey, if we can see him as Rick Grimes yet, at least we can see him in something!
