Josh McDermitt stars in Netflix animated series Sharkdog

The Walking Dead has brought many talented actors to our screens over the past 10 years. Most have also had other opportunities to branch out and to other roles that contrast the characters that play on The Walking Dead. Josh McDermitt who plays Eugene Porter has just landed a new role that is the complete opposite to the man he plays within the series.

McDermitt is portraying a new character for a Netflix original kid’s series that is bright and cheery family viewing. This show is entitled Sharkdog which NickALive! details, was created by Jacinth Tan Yi Ting. This series was released on September 3 on Netflix.

Sharkdog is a new animated show for streaming platform Netflix. The first season has just been released and is available to watch now. The series consists of 20 short segments for viewers to enjoy!

The story follows Max, a boy who becomes friends with a cute pet-like creature that is half shark and half dog. Season 1 follows their adventures on land and sea as Max keeps his new companion a secret from his parents and neighbors but trusts his friends to keep his new friend a secret. McDermitt voices Max’s dad, Steven Fisher, who is a Scientist (like Eugene!) and a Doctor in Oceanology.

McDermitt is no stranger to doing voice-over work in his career. At a young age, he began ringing into his local radio station in Phoenix AZ, with different voices before then landing a part in the show playing various characters on air. This led to him becoming a producer on the radio station in later years. In his other roles within film and television, it is clear he has taken inspiration from other characters and actors to add to his extraordinary vocal library and he is just great at it!

Other actors in the show include Liam Mitchell, Kari Wahlgren, Dee Bradley Baker, Judy Alice Lee, Grey Griffin and Ali Mawji. This is McDermitt’s first role in an animated series of the type and the whole cast bring this story to life.

This new series is fantastic for family viewing with its light-hearted adventures. And one thing is for sure, McDermitt is super awesome and talented at accents and portraying emotion through his voice and really becoming a character and this new venture into animation is no exception! Well done Josh!
