In a world ff The Walking Dead, you can’t look back

In this week’s episode of The Walking Dead, while Maggie was trying to make her way through the long-abandoned Wellhaven Plaza, she was ambushed by a walker and dropped her flashlight.

This far along in a zombie apocalypse, a flashlight is almost as valuable as a gun — They’re not making any more in the factories by this point, and being able to see where you’re going is precious — yet, Maggie reluctantly chose to leave it behind…because she knew The Reapers chasing her could be closing in. Knowing that a serious threat (Maybe multiple of them) were on her tail, Maggie chose to forego the advantage of increased visibility in order to put more distance (Perhaps even complete escape) between her and her pursuers.

If I’m being honest, this isn’t a hard and fast rule (Hence, why I said “Sometimes”): It’s a judgment call. You have to decide: Is the threat you face so severe that going back for something will make you especially vulnerable, or, are they minor enough that you can chance it?

Or maybe, you need to look at it the other way: Is what you’re going back for worth it, or, is it something you can go on without? This is what makes it a hard choice. Hopefully, you make the right one.
