With the return of Maggie Rhee (Lauren Cohan) to The Walking Dead, it has also brought about more talk of her husband Glenn, who Steven Yeun played. Glenn was a fan favorite, and his death will never be forgotten. Yeun has gone on to do fantastic things since he departed from the series. This weekend his latest project, The Humans, saw its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

The Humans is an adaptation of a one-act play by Stephen Karam, who wrote and directed the film. Karam’s directorial debut stars Yeun,  Beanie Feldstein, Jayne Houdyshell, Richard Jenkins, Amy Schumer, and June Squibb.

The film is a dramedy, and according to Screen Daily, an ordinary American family prepares for Thanksgiving as they slowly come unglued.

Yeun’s character Richard is studying to be a social worker and waiting for his trust fund to kick in. He is dating Brigid (Feldstein), who is a composer. Amy Schumer plays her sister Aimee; a cooperate lawyer and Jenkins and Houdyshell play their parents Erik and Deirdre. Houdyshell reprised her Tony-winning role from the play. They are also joined by June Squibb, who plays grandmother Momo, who uses a wheelchair and suffers from dementia.

The film has received positive reviews from TIFF as far as I can tell so far. I didn’t want to read into too many of them to spoil the film.

It is exciting to see Yeun in yet another great project. We should see him, or rather hear him in the next season of Invincible. He is working on Jordan Peele’s next project Nope, and a new series with Ali Wong called Beef.

There is always the possibility of seeing him in the final season of The Walking Dead as well. Fans are hoping to see appearances of many former cast members in some way, shape, or form for the final season of the series. Hopefully, we get to see Glenn one last time!
