Season eleven of The Walking Dead is, as we all know, the final for the series. Going into this season, fans have high expectations as this season needs to tie up loose ends because we know what Abraham says about those. This final chapter of the flagship series also needs to give us the best possible season that can be created. The writers, directors, creators and everyone involved have so far done an impressive job of making this a stellar season.

“On the Inside” follows three storylines. We see the mini horror film starring Connie (Lauren Ridloff) and Virgil (Kevin Carroll). There is the search and rescue team of Carol (Melissa McBride), Rosita (Christian Serratos), Kelly (Angel Theory) and Magna (Nadia Hilker). And, we have Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) with the Reapers, who are still on the hunt for Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and her group.

That is a lot to take in for one episode. But, it was so well done and so well-timed that it was action-packed from start to finish making it one of the best episodes of the entire series.

Kelly running off to search for her sister wasn’t too big of a surprise as she has been tirelessly searching. She misses her sister and hasn’t given up hope that she will find her alive. Thank goodness she wasn’t harmed and found Connie’s camp, which gave the search party some clues.

I loved how Rosita just dismissed the committee trying to decide what to do about a search party. She told Aaron what was what, and the girls took charge. They were losing precious time talking about what to do when they should have been on the road searching.

The reunion between Kelly and Connie was so emotional. It is such a relief to know they have finally been reunited.

Daryl and the Reapers were intense. I know Daryl has to show he is a team player to earn Pope’s trust but to cut off Frost’s finger! Totally unexpected. And Pope just stood there casually chewing his gum.

I really think Leah is rethinking her decision to return to her squad, or she was forced to leave the cabin in the first place. Perhaps Pope has changed for the worse, and his God complex has gotten to the point that the majority of the squad is second-guessing his decisions.

Daryl had some quick thinking in using the downed powerlines to alert Maggie to their presence near the safe house.

I think we will see a serious altercation between Daryl and Carver before too long. Carver seems to be very fond of Leah and is a bit jealous of their relationship, whatever the status of that is. I think Leah and Carver may have been an item at one time.

At the end of the episode, when we see poor Frost as a walker and Pope confides that he was able to get the information he wanted, was this a ruse? Or was he able to break Frost? I believe it was his way of trying to scare Daryl into thinking Frost gave something away. But, in the little time we knew Frost, he showed himself to be a man of integrity, and I don’t think anything would have made him give Maggie and her group away.

Everything about this episode was dynamic, but the Virgil and Connie haunted house was a storyline that will go down in The Walking Dead hall of fame. This story hit the ground running, literally, as we saw the pair running from something unseen. We find out they were being herded to this house as it was inhabited by feral cannibals. This whole story was straight horror and so well done.

We saw a very different person in this Virgil from the one Michonne met. He has a new lease on life as Michonne gave him a chance. His monologue about Michonne was emotional, one to see that he realized what she did for him and two to hear her name again.

He was willing to give up his life for Connie to be reunited with her family. But Connie wasn’t having it and saved him right back. Within minutes she planned their escape by using walker guts to camouflage their scent and then unleashing the walkers on the ferals, allowing the pair to exit the house. Virgil was stabbed multiple times, so it will be seen if he survives.
