The Walking Dead survival rule of the week

To survive in The Walking Dead, you will have to do lots of things you never dreamed of doing, because you’ll have no other choice.

It’s become pretty evident as this quarter of this season of The Walking Dead has unfolded that notions of class, and the difference between classes, will be a big theme, especially as we see more and more of the Commonwealth, who seem obsessed with those very ideas.

This week’s episode seemed determined to show us just how much emphasis they put on the class system. We saw how accommodating they were to Yumiko, due to her profession and education, and how they treated people on the lower rungs of their society. And, how people at the top of the Commonwealth saw and treated those they deemed “beneath” them.

Seeing what the lowest jobs in the Commonwealth were and the behavior of the upper class made me think about how the things we may need to do to survive may fall well out of the comfort zone we have when the apocalypse begins. And what could happen to those people who are unwilling to do those things?

For this week’s The Walking Dead, Survival Rule Of The Week, I’ve decided to call attention to a few of those things you’re going to have to get used to and what can happen to you if you refuse to do them.
