The Walking Dead Maggie learns to be a Whisperer

Another quarter of this week’s episode of The Walking Dead focused on Maggie, Negan, Elijah, and Father Gabriel trying to find a way to infiltrate Meridian and defeat the Reapers and reclaim the supplies they’d stolen.

Negan, being very much a voice of reason, told Maggie that the four of them, including an injured Gabriel, would stand no chance even entering Meridian.  Let alone getting away with the supplies or defeating the Reapers. He suggested that if she insisted on continuing the mission, they would find a different way of going about it.

His suggestion? Being a Whisperer.

Over what I’m guessing was an hour or so, Negan taught Maggie and Elijah how to be Whisperers, providing them with walker masks, teaching them how to walk like the dead, and eventually, walking with the dead.

For both Maggie and Elijah, this was clearly something they didn’t find terribly appetizing, both for the act itself and having to march with the corpses of friends and family, respectively.

However, this just shows that surviving the zombie apocalypse will require you to do things that you may have problems with. Whether it be something as simple as eating whatever you can find to having to march alongside the corpse of your dead sister. Maggie and Elijah have to do this because, as Negan explained, it’s the only way they can get rid of the Reapers.

You don’t always have to like what you have to do to survive a zombie apocalypse, but you do have to do it.
