The Walking Dead’s part one mid-season finale was fairly uneventful as far as a mid-season finale goes. It did leave us with some cliffhangers but the promo for part two of season 11 ruined those. One moment that stood out was very brief, and it deserved more time was between Carol and Connie.

In the season 10 episode “Squeeze,” Carol blew up Alpha’s cave trapping Connie (Lauren Ridloff) and Magna (Nadia Hilker). A second explosion happened, and everyone assumed they were killed. Later it is discovered that Magna survived, but she had lost track of Connie. Kelly, (Angel Theory) Connie’s sister and others never gave up hope that they would find her alive.

The first solid clue about Connie was presented during “Out of Ashes.”  One of the remaining Whisperers found at Hilltop told Aaron, Jerry, Carol, and Lydia they saw Connie alive. This was great news, and Carol, still struggling with the guilt surrounding the situation, was eager to set out searching for her.

Viewers had known for a while that Connie was found alive by Virgil (Kevin Carroll) near Oceanside at the end of the regular season 10 episode “A Certain Doom.”

Carol and Kelly went on missions searching for Connie and Magna warned Carol not to get Kelly’s hopes up. But, Carol couldn’t live with the fact that she could have caused Connie’s death and had to keep searching.

During “On the Inside,” Kelly sets out on her own to find Connie. Carol, Magna and Rosita quickly trail her. Kelly did find Connie’s camp, which had been abandoned quickly as none of her or Virgil’s items were taken with them.

Luckily they did find Connie and her new companion

Virgil but not before that pair experienced some horrific times with some feral’s in a haunted house of sorts.

This was a short but emotional reunion that was so good to witness. Kelly had been lost without her sister, and it was good to have a positive outcome to this story.

In the season 11 part 1 mid-season finale “For Blood,” we see the first interaction between Connie and Carol. This should have been something much bigger and more meaningful, but it was good to see that Connie isn’t holding any grudges against Carol for her actions. Connie volunteers to help Carol with the walls at Alexandria during the storm. It shows the character of Connie being able to put things behind and move forward.
