The Walking Dead’s Lynn Collins in horror film Bug (2006)
By Renee Hansen
We’ve been featuring some horror films with Walking Dead actors this month for the Halloween season. Lynn Collins, who plays Leah Shaw in the series, starred in the horror film Bug, released in 2006.
This psychological horror film is directed by William Friedkin (The Exorcist) based on a play from 1966 written by Tracy Letts, who also wrote the screenplay. In addition to Collins, the film also stars Ashley Judd, Michael Shannon, Brían F. O’Byrne and Harry Connick Jr.
The setting is a cheap rundown motel in Oklahoma where lonely waitress Agnes (Judd) lives while trying to avoid her ex-husband Jerry (Connick Jr.), who has recently been released. She is introduced to a drifter named Peter (Shannon) by her friend and co-worker RC (Collins). Peter is a Gulf War vet who was submitted to experiments by the army. The story is one of paranoia where reality and delusion are blurred, and the pair discover a bug infestation. Peter has ideas about where the bugs came from.
The film had mixed to positive reviews from critics praising the intensity, acting, and take on paranoia. This movie is available to stream on Tubi, Vudu, PlutoTV, and The Ruku Channel or rent on Amazon Prime.
The Walking Dead’s Lynn Collins
Collins joined The Walking Dead cast during season 10C as Leah Shaw, a friend and romantic interest to Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus). After the two parted, it wasn’t clear if we would ever see Leah again. In season 11, Daryl was surprised when Leah showed up with the group known as the Reapers. This group is responsible for killing many of Maggie’s group and taking over her community known as Meridian.
In the finale for part 1 of season 11, Leah and Daryl found they would never see eye to eye and Leah betrayed Daryl by killing Pope, the leader of the Reapers, blaming Daryl. When we last saw them, Leah was leading the Reapers in a fight against Daryl, Maggie, Negan, Gabe and Elijah.
The Walking Dead season 11 part 2 will begin on AMC on February 20, 2022, and the storyline will pick right up at the cliffhanger of that finale episode.
