One year ago today, Creepshow gave fans a Halloween treat with the release of an animated special featured. A Creepshow Animated Special was the answer to how the creators of Creepshow could continue to work during covid shutdowns. The end result was everything an animated horror should be, from the fantastic animation style to the music that gives you chills, as any good horror should.

Greg Nicotero (The Walking Dead) served as executive producer for the special with Keifer Sutherland (24, Designated Survivor) and Joey King (The Kissing Booth, The Act) as the voice actors. Both actors have been in several horror films, which allowed them to draw on that experience to create excellent stories for this feature.

The two features are based on stories by Stephen King and Joe Hill with animation by Octopie Animation Studio.

“Survivor Type” is based on King’s story that Nicotero adapted where a man (Sutherland) on a deserted island will do whatever he has to stay alive. “Twittering from the Circus of the Dead” is a short story by Joe Hill that Melanie Dale adapted of a teen (King) and her family who are on a road trip to ‘the gravest show on earth.”

The special is full of Easter Eggs, including cameos of King, Hill and Nicotero. You will miss many other quick peeks if you blink, so if it’s your first watch, you will need a second and maybe third to catch them all. Be sure to check this one out if you haven’t already.
