The Walking Dead Rick Grimes last episode aired 3 years ago

Many fans of The Walking Dead don’t have the same connection with the series since the episode “What Comes After” aired three years ago. On November 4, 2018, fans watched this episode, knowing that Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) would be departing from the series. Grimes was the first character viewers were introduced to and the leader of the main group. It was a hard pill to swallow, knowing he would be leaving the series for good.

Along with Grimes, this episode would also mark the final episode for Jadis/Anne (Pollyanna McIntosh), who has now crossed over to the spin-off series The Walking Dead: World Beyond as Warrant Officer Stokes. 

After Rick blew up a bridge to save his family, who thought he died in the explosion. The resourceful Jadis called a CRM helicopter to take herself and a wounded Rick Grimes away. He was her ticket out of the trouble she had caused among Rick’s people.

The Walking Dead the Legacy of Rick Grimes

Before Rick “died” in the series, his eldest son, Carl (Chandler Riggs), was also killed off the series. This left Team Grimes fans very upset, thinking the series would never be the same without at least one Grimes remaining.

In walks Judith Grimes (Cailey Fleming) with her tiny katana, her dad and brother’s hat, welding her dad’s gun. She is small but mighty and may not be a Grimes by blood but is a force to be reckoned with even at her young age. Being raised by her mother, Michonne (Danai Gurira), made all the difference in the world.

Michonne and Judith are the only family members who know that Rick survived the bridge explosion, and Michonne left to see if she could find him with Judith’s blessing.

And, the surprise Grimes, RJ, made his appearance as well. He is even younger but determined to learn the ways of combat from his older sister. He is eager to learn and will make a great fighter and leader, as he comes from good blood from both his father and mother.

There is your Tales of the Walking Dead story, Judith and RJ in the future, leading the fight for whatever is to come.

Rick will return in The Walking Dead movies, but what that story will look like is anyone’s guess at this point. Gale Anne Hurd and Greg Nicotero have both discussed that the movies are moving forward.
