The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus shared a photo on his social media account recently, something that I thought was just fanart, as he shares those types of images often. But now, Chief Content Officer Scott Gimple has confirmed that this photo was a mock-up of a possible storyline where Daryl would get his arm chopped off.

Since the beginning, Daryl has been with the series and will go on after the series ends with his spin-off series with one of his oldest and dearest friends, Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride). Season eleven has been a tough one for Daryl as he has had to infiltrate the Reapers. This menacing group killed the residents and took over Maggie’s (Lauren Cohan) recent community called Meridian.

Daryl was met with a blast from his past as Leah (Lynn Collins) is a member of the Reapers. In the final episode before the break in the season, Daryl told Leah about his group, and she wasn’t happy. She was hoping to bring Daryl to their side. She betrayed him by killing Pope, the leader of the group and then blamed it on Daryl.

Season 11, part two, is heading for some exciting events when we see what happens next.

The Walking Dead’s Daryl Dixon

You can see the photos from Reedus’ social media posts below and Gimple’s retweet and reply confirming a different story for Daryl. The pitch was for Daryl to have his arm chopped off by Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) for “poppin’ Negan in the face.”

Wow! That would have made for some exciting storyline.

He and Aaron would be an interesting pair, both missing their arms. I wonder if Daryl would have gotten sick mace arm like Aarons?

If this storyline had played out, imagine the difference between Rick and Daryl’s relationship. Would Daryl feel he deserved this? Or would he further isolate himself from the group? Who would have held Daryl down for Rick to chop off his arm? I have so many questions.

dark. Next. Norman Reedus and Greg Nicotero’s restaurant gets a facelift
