Fear the Walking Dead recap season 7 episode 6, Reclamation

Fear the Walking Dead’s episode “Reclamation” has given us a happy ending for one character, at least for now. It isn’t often that a character in any of The Walking Dead universes series gets to ride off into the sunset to live happily ever after. This week’s episode saw that for Althea (Maggie Grace) and Isabelle (Syndey Lemmon).

The title of this episode comes from the CRM Reclamation Team that was deployed to find a soldier who had gone AWOL.  Al sent a helicopter to rescue Daniel, Luciana, Sarah, Wes, Charlie and Jacob at the end of season six, with strict instructions not to engage the pilot in conversation. Viewers all knew this had to be Isabelle, a CRM soldier and pilot. This act has now marked her as a traitor, and from what we know of the CRM, they will not stop until she is found.

We learn that previously Al had told Isabelle that she wouldn’t be able to go with her while she lives her life on the run. But, Al had a change of heart and knows her place is with Isabelle.

Maggie Grace leaving Fear the Walking Dead?

This episode marked the last time we will see Al for season seven. This was announced by showrunner Andrew Chambliss during the Fear the Walking Dead: Episode Insider, which airs after each episode. There was no explanation for this, so it is most likely Grace’s choice, and since the character is so well-loved, they have left it open for a return in a future season.

It is nice to have a happy ending, at least for now.

The episode starts with a flashback of Al finally being on the other side of the camera in her own interview, which we will learn is being filmed by Isabelle. These flashbacks will be featured during the episode telling the tale of time that the two spent together since we’ve last seen Al.

In the present, she has a heart-to-heart with the MRAP as she plans to leave her constant companion while she goes off in search of Isabelle.

Morgan is searching for Al and finds the vehicle empty. He records a message for her, knowing she will watch anything on the tapes. When he finally catches up with her, they discuss what she is doing out there alone. She is unable to tell him everything, to keep him safe. But eventually tells him about Isabelle.

The CRM Reclamation team is searching for Al because they know she will have an idea of where Isabelle is hiding. This team of two will hunt Al, Morgan and Grace throughout the episode.

Grace saves Morgan and Al, and they set up a plan to take out the CRM soldiers in a kill or be killed situation. As far-fetched as it might be, it was a fantastic kill scene!

Morgan finally got his chance to interview Al as he wanted something to remember her by. They had a very heartfelt conversation about Isabelle. Morgan can’t understand why Al is throwing away her happiness.

She does go off in search of Isabelle when she finds out the CRM has her location. When she finds her, she explains that she has changed her mind and wants to be with her.

It is a beautiful episode that’s saying goodbye to Althea without really being a goodbye episode.

Fear the Walking Dead will return to AMC on November 28 with “The Portrait.” This episode is available to stream on AMC+ now.
