Steven Yeun will always be fondly remembered as Glenn Rhee from The Walking Dead. Since leaving the series, Yeun has truly made a name for himself with some outstanding roles. One role comic book fans love to see (hear) him in is Mark Grayson in the animated series Invincible.

Robert Kirkman, of Walking Dead fame, also wrote the comic series Invincible which has now been made into a series for Amazon Prime. Season one was a hit, and in April 2021, the day the season finale aired, it was announced that Invincible was renewed for two more seasons.

The series uses the 144 issue comic story for its source material. The story revolves around Mark Grayson, the son of the most powerful superhero on the planet, Omni-Man, voiced by J.K. Simmons. At 17 yrs old, Mark begins his transformation into his superhero persona with the guidance of his father.

Invincible season 2 – Steven Yeun

In a recent interview with Collider, Yeun shared an update about the second season.

"We haven’t started. I know we’re starting at some point soon. I’ve talked to Robert [Kirkman], here and there. He’s super excited about it. He thinks Season 2 is gonna be even better than Season 1, which I have no doubt about. If you go to his source material, Invincible is an incredible comic, and just thinking about how much story hasn’t been told from that run, it’s gonna be bonkers. I’m really excited about it."

The first season received positive reviews from critics and audiences, sighting praise for the bold animation, performances, faithfulness to the source material and the action sequences complete with graphic blood and gore.

Season one had an all-star cast, including J.K. Simmons, Gillian Jacobs, Mark Hamill, Seth Rogan, Jason Mantzoukas, Walton Goggins, Zachary Quinto, and many more. Many Walking Dead actors were used in the first season, Khary Payton, Lauren Cohan, Chad Coleman, Michael Cudlitz, Lennie James, Ross Marquand and Sonequa Martin-Green.

We may see more Walking Dead actors appear in the upcoming seasons as Kirkman has stated he can’t think of a TWD actor he wouldn’t want to work with again.

Yeun has been a busy man, be sure to check out his roles in Tuca & Bertie, The Humans and Minari. His upcoming projects include Jordan Peele’s new horror film Nope and a Netflix series with Ali Wong titled Beef.

He will also produce a new documentary on Korean American artist Nam June Paik.
