AMC’s announcement that Madison Clark (Kim Dickens) would be returning to Fear the Walking Dead in the second half of season seven has led to speculation that another character would return. Troy Otto (Daniel Sharman) was a resident of the Broke Jaw Ranch from season three who was killed on screen but this hasn’t stopped the rumors of his return.

Madison and her family joined the Broke Jaw Ranch, run by Jeremiah Otto Sr. (Dayton Callie). His son’s Jake (Sam Underwood) and Troy, also help with the running of the community. Troy was one of the people who actually embraced the violence of the apocalypse and wouldn’t think twice about killing, especially people who threatened his family or their ranch.

In the beginning, he was at odds with Madison and her kids as he was highly suspicious of outsiders. Troy was something of a psychopath but still held on to a bit of a humane side. This was evident when he held a knife to Madison’s neck, but then something stopped him from killing her.

In 2019, it was heavily circulated that Sharman would reprise his role in the fifth season of Fear TWD. Digital Spy reported that showrunners disputed this during a WonderCon event. Showrunner Ian Goldberg denied this, as did Victor Strand actor Colman Domingo, who stated it was “a nasty rumor.”

In season three, Madison takes a hammer to his head, and his body is seen floating away in the flooding after the dam is blown. It is highly unlikely that Troy could have survived two blows of a hammer to his head. But, stranger things have happened.

Daniel Sharman – other roles

After he departed from Fear TWD, Sharman has worked on some other great projects. Check him out in the Netflix original Cursed, a reimagining of the Arthurian legend.

He portrayed Lorenzo de’ Medici (known as the Magnificent) in the series Medici that tells the story of the Medici family, bankers of the Pope. This series can be viewed on Netflix.

Next, he will star in Every Man for Himself and Good Morning It’s the Cops. Sharman has also been cast in the Sky series A Town Called Malice.
