Director of Photography forThe Walking Dead series, Duane Charles Manwiller, continues to delight with all of his BTS photos and videos for the final season. He recently posted an awesome BTS video of filming from season 10 on Instagram.

You remember the scene. Many of the survivors are at Oceanside as they are being trained for the impending Whisperer war. It is a fantastic episode that highlights many key players in this war. It is also a scene that shows many characters we don’t often see.

Aaron has the group lined up and goes through the motions of training them for combat. It is an impressive show of force, even if it is a rehearsal. The caption for the video explains this took place on Jekyll Island, an island on Georgia’s coast. The temperature was 100* with zero shade. Actress Marisol Correa reposted and dubbed it “hell week.”

If you scope out Manwiller’s Instagram, you will see many excellent shots from the series. His photos have featured images from the final episode and some older ones. It is always a treat to see what goes on while making this series that we all know and love so well.

While you flip through his posts, you will see numerous shout-outs to Greg Nicotero’s  KNB EFX Group. This is the group responsible for the SPX we see in the series. One that was particularly interesting is how they film the scenes on horses.

One very touching image that Manwiller shared was of his first season shooting for the series. It is Carl’s death scene. It was a candid shot, and you can only imagine the emotions that Chandler Riggs, Andrew Lincoln and Danai Guira were experiencing while rehearsing this scene.
