Tales of the Walking Dead is the third spin-off series of The Walking Dead, an AMC series that will end in 2022. Tales of TWD has started filming in Georgia, with Channing Powell serving as showrunner.

This series will be an anthology format that will feature new and established characters in the same universe as the flagship series. Tales of the Walking Dead will premiere this summer on AMC and AMC+.

Haifaa al-Mansour, Deborah Kampmeier, Tara Nicole Weyr and Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead director Michael Satrazemis are set to direct for this series. Each mentioned will direct one episode, with Satrazemis directing three. Chief content officer of The Walking Dead universe, Scott M. Gimple, will executive produce the series. Showrunner Powell has served as a writer and producer for The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead. The first season of the series will consist of six hour-long episodes.

There have been no announcements of episode synopsis,’ but Deadline reports that some exciting casting news has been announced.

The series will feature:

Anthony Edwards (Inventing Anna, WeCrashed, ER, Top Gun)

Parker Posey (Lost In Space, Scream 3)

Terry Crews (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Expendables)

Poppy Liu (Dead Ringers, Better Call Saul)

Jillian Bell (Rough Night, Brittany Runs a Marathon)

This is only a few cast members; as with an anthology series, the cast will most likely change for each episode. It is exciting to see so many additions to TWD Family.

The highly anticipated return of The Walking Dead Season 11 Part 2 premieres Sunday, February 20 at 9:00 pm ET/8c with new episodes available one week early on AMC+, beginning with the premiere episode on Sunday, February 1
