Jordan Peele Nope first look at Steven Yeun in the upcoming film

Steven Yeun will always be known in The Walking Dead world as a pizza delivery guy turned zpoc leader Glenn Rhee. Since he departed from the series, Yeun has done other amazing projects. He made history with his Oscar nomination in 2021 for his lead role in “Minari” by being the first Asian American to be nominated in the Lead Actor Category!

Next, Yeun is slated to star in Jordan Peele’s highly anticipated Nope. Variety shared the first look photos and teaser video today. The teaser (below) shows clips of two of Peele’s other notable films, Get Out and Us, and includes three clips of Nope informing viewers that the release for the full trailer will happen during Super Bowl Sunday.

Peele again teams with Universal Pictures for this new film, and the plot has been kept under wraps. We do know that Yeun will star with Daniel Kaluuya and KeKe Palmer. Kaluuya starred in Get Out, which was nominated for four Oscars.

There isn’t much revealed in this teaser; we do see a quick shot of the three actors in character. And, we learned the official theatrical release date has been set for July 22, 2022.

Cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema, who often works with Christoper Nolan,  will team up with Peele for Nope.  Hoytema is known for filmingInterstellar Dunkirk and Tenet.

Yeun has had much success since leaving The Walking Dead. You can see him in Mayhem, Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia, The Twilight Zone, Minari, Final Space, and the Amazon Original series Invincible. 

He will also star in a series with Ali Wong for Netflix called Beef.  This series comes from the great minds at A24, with Sung-Jin Lee with Yeun and Wong serving as executive producers for the 10 episode series.

The synopsis from Netflix reads:

"“Beef follows two people who let a road rage incident burrow into their minds and slowly consume their every thought and action.”"
