The Walking Dead aired the first episode of the series on October 31, 2010. Since that time, the franchise has expanded by leaps and bounds. There have been two spin-off series, Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead World Beyond, with a third, Tales of the Walking Dead, set to release in the summer of 2022. But, this series has created so much more than just a few shows to entertain.

TWD Family is a term used by everyone fond of this franchise. Actors, crew, showrunners, fans, etc., know that The Walking Dead family is more than just a title. This title describes a group of people with a common interest that has developed into much more than a fandom.

Even though it is sad to see the flagship series end, the franchise or universe, if you will, is far from being forgotten.

When is the last season of The Walking Dead?

Sadly, The Walking Dead series will see the show’s end sometime in 2022. The eleventh season is the final and is being released in three parts. Each part consists of eight episodes, with part one airing in 2021.

On Feb. 20, AMC will air the premiere episode of part two or season 11B. This episode is currently available to stream on AMC+ with a subscription. Part two will air its last episode on AMC on April 10, and there has been no announcement for a release date for part three. Each of the new episodes will be available one week early on AMC+.

The second part of the final season will focus heavily on the newly introduced community, the Commonwealth.  The trailer shows that many main characters have even settled there and will be taking on new jobs, similar to what they did before the outbreak, as is the practice of the Commonwealth.
