By Renee Hansen
Tales of the Walking Dead showrunner Channing Powell shared a new development. After yesterday’s news about casting, it’s fantastic to get more information already.
As of Feb. 3, 2022, the series has begun filming the second episode. This episode is directed by Haifaa Al-Mansour, a Saudi Arabian film director. She is one of the country’s best-known and most controversial directors, as well as the first female Saudi filmmaker.
Previously, she has directed episodes of Netflix’s thriller, Archive 81, The L Word: Generation Q, The Wilds, The Good Lord Bird, Motherland: Fort Salem and The Society. Her feature directorial debut was for the film Saudi Arabian film Wadjada.
Additional directors for the series include Deborah Kampmeier, Tara Nicole Weyr and Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead director Michael Satrazemis

Powell’s Instagram post below features the slate for episode two of the third spin-off series from the flagship series, The Walking Dead.
As AMC recently announced the first five cast members, the fandom exploded with excitement. Anthony Edwards, Parker Posey, Terry Crews, Poppy Liu and Jillian Bell have all been cast for the first season of this spin-off series.
The first season of the series will consist of 6 hour-long episodes that are anthology-based and will focus on new and established characters within the main storyline. There has been no announcement on a synopsis for any of the episodes, but we know this series will be released in the summer of 2022.
There was some buzz generated about a possible Tyreese (Chad Coleman) and Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green) episode for this series as Coleman “ran into” Michael Satrazemis and posted a photo on Instagram. There has been no confirmation, but it would be a fantastic episode to see where this brother/sister duo came from.
The highly anticipated return of The Walking Dead Season 11 Part 2 premieres Sunday, February 20 at 9:00 pm ET/8c with new episodes available one week early on AMC+, beginning with the premiere episode on Sunday, February 1.
