AMC aired the eleventh episode of season 3 of The Walking Dead on February 24, 2013. “I Ain’t a Judas” was written by Angela Kang and directed by Greg Nicotero.

The survivors regroup in the cellblock after the Governors attack on the prison in the previous episode “Home.”  Rick and Glenn want to stay and fight, but Hershel feels they should move on as he believes the Governor will return. Merle tells them that the Governor has enough guns and manpower to kill them all.

When Rick walks off without making a decision, Hershel yells at him and tells him that he declared this was no longer a democracy, so he needs to live up to that and do something.

The Walking Dead season 3

This episode flits back and forth between the characters in the prison gearing up for another invasion by the Governor and Woodbury as they prepare all able bodies to be ready for a war.

Hershel and Merle chat about their amputations, the bible, and the fact that the Governor will kill all of Rick’s friends and family one by one, so he has to watch.

In Woodbury, the Governor has become obsessed with killing Rick and his group. They have enlisted anyone 13 years old and older. Andrea tries to get Milton to help her escape to visit Rick at the prison and talk some sense into him. Milton helps her after telling the Governor her plan. He tells Milton to assist her.

In the woods, Milton and Andrea run into Tyreese and his crew. Milton takes them back to Woodbury as Andrea travels on to the prison.

This episode saw Andrea reunited with Rick and his group for the first time since the farm was overrun. They treat her as a hostile until they are sure she is unarmed and alone.

Andrea is unsure who to believe as Rick and the Governor have two different stories they are telling her. After her reunion with everyone, Carol pulls her aside and tells her to sleep with the Governor and then kill him, and that will end this.

The Governor is happy to welcome Tyreese and his crew, especially when he finds out they have been inside the prison.

Andrea tries to do what Carol suggests, but, in the end, she is unable to kill the Governor.

This episode marks Melissa McBride’s 25th episode. The song Beth sings is “Hold On” by Tom Waits.
