Steven Yeun portrayed Glenn Rhee on The Walking Dead series until his death at the beginning of season 7. Along with Abraham Ford (Michael Cudlitz), this character suffered the most horrific deaths of the series, being beaten by Negan’s (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) barbed wire-wrapped bat, Lucille. Since departing the series, Yeun has made quite the name for himself with several memorable roles. Deadline reports he will serve as an executive producer for a new series for Peacock.

The series, The Islands, is based on actual events about American Imperialism, a 1960s crime saga set in Hawaii. The crime drama shows the fall of a kingdom and the changing of a way of life. The series is written by cousins Kaz and Ryan Firpo, the duo who wrote the Marvel film The Eternals, and is directed by Fast & Furious director Justin Lin. The Firpo’s and Lin will join Yeun as co-executive producers.

Yeun’s next project, the Jordan Peele film, Nope, will release in theaters on July 22, 2022. There isn’t much known about Peele’s latest horror film other than it is set in an isolated town in California where residents witness a mysterious and abnormal event.

He is currently filming the A24/Netflix series, Beef with Ali Wong. The series will have 10 episodes and stars Patti Yasutake, David Choe, Remy Holt, Maria Bello, Ashley Park, Justin H. Min, Mia Serafino and Christopher M. Campos.

Netflix synopsis: “Beef follows two people who let a road rage incident burrow into their minds and slowly consume their every thought and action.”

Yeun will also reprise his role as Mark Grayson/Invincible in the Amazon Prime Video series Invincible’s second season. This is an adult animated superhero series based on the Skybound/Image comic of the same title.

Be sure to check out Yeun in Minari, a role for which he made history as the first-ever Asian-American to be nominated for an Oscar in the Lead Actor category.

Other roles he is known for include The Humans, Final Space, Wizards, Mayhem and Burning.
