Fear the Walking Dead is back with the back half of its seventh season. This season will see the war declared on Strand (Colman Domingo) by Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) come to fruition with the other survivors taking sides.

This segment of episodes will also see the return of fan-favorite Madison Clark (Kim Dickens), who was thought to have died at the Dell Diamond in season 4. Showrunners have said her return will be impactful, and she will become a series regular again in the eighth season.

The season 7 midseason premiere was a letdown to many fans as they expected this episode to see the war begin and were sorely disappointed. Instead, the episode “Follow Me” was an Alicia-centric episode that showed character development for a character who has lost confidence in her ability to lead.

Fear the Walking Dead – Mourning Cloak

The next episode, “Mourning Cloak,” is currently available on AMC+ and will air on AMC on Sunday,  April 24 at 9 p.m. ET.

This episode was written by Nazrin Choudhury & Calaya Michelle Stallworth and directed by Lennie James, who plays Morgan Jones in the series. This will make James’ third episode that he has directed in addition to season 7’s “Till Death” and season 6’s “Welcome to the Club.”

This episode sees Charlie’s (Alexa Nisenson) arrival at the Tower. She tells Howard (Omid Abtahi) and the others she wants to live there and is willing to go on a mission to prove herself. Howard, always the skeptic, sends a young ranger, Ali (Ashton Arbab), with her to discover if this is truly her intention or if she has other plans in mind.

The teaser above shows things will be tense during this episode, and Howard appears to become unglued. Does anyone else think he is the true villain?

Another interesting thing from that teaser is that Strand is absent. What is his role in this episode?
