The Walking Dead has appeared at San Diego Comic-Con since July 2010. This appearance occurred ahead of the series premiere, which wouldn’t take place until October. The panels that year discussed what to expect from this series adapted from Robert Kirkman’s comic story.
This summer, The Walking Dead will make its final appearance at the con, at least for the flagship series. Showrunner Angela Kang reminisced on Instagram about the 2019 appearance and stated she is looking forward to this year.
The 2019 event would be promoting season 10 of The Walking Dead and the second half of season 5 of Fear the Walking Dead.

AMC and The Walking Dead universe had quite a presence at the 2019 event. “DeadQuarter,” the official fan zone of TWDU, was back with a winter escape from season 9 of TWD and a treehouse/plane crash site from Fear TWD. AMC partnered with Feeding American and encouraged fans to donate canned foods to benefit the San Diego chapter of this organization. An official Walker Horde moment was held with fans attending dressed as walkers to create a scene to be used for season 10 promotions.
This year also introduced The Walking Dead Onslaught VR game. Next Games held auditions for the “Become a Hero” contest where fans could try out for their chance to be a playable character in The Walking Dead: Our World mobile game. FTX games presented The Walking Dead: Slots, a virtual slot machine on a 65″ screen, giving players a chance to get their name at the top of the leaderboard and win a year’s subscription to TWD Supply Drop. FTX also demoed the puzzle battle role-playing game, The Walking Dead: Outbreak.
